INGRID 'S BIO

Ingrid:

- started violin at age 7, through influence of parents who were hippies that also listened to jazz and classical

- father played trumpet in Chicago style bands in the 70's and 80's

- had paid positions in classical orchestras from age 12 and up, and often played cheesy dinner music for tourists in PEI, also for $$

- while getting more serious about playing violin (studied with a soloist from the Tokyo Symphony), picked up the guitar as a teen and had a blast playing my favorite songs at the time on it (60's shit LED ZEP! and Janis Joplin, as well as the grunge stuff -Nirvana, Pixies, etc.

- busked in scenic downtown Moncton in high school, playing guit and singing more hippie stuff and Indigo Girls type crap with a friend-studied at the Conservatoire de Musique de Quebec for 4 years, then got tendinitis

- took a long break from playing to recover and to get BA, during which I realized I wanted to rawk! No really I wanted to get out of confines of sometimes anal and pretentious classical world and just get my freak on

- having successfully removed the stick from up my ass, I decided to depart from classical ambitions (used to want to join an orchestra in Europe) and put my info up on montrealmusicsource to see who would reply, and have been jamming almost every night since!

Hey, I saw your musicians wanted ad (can't remember where exactly!) I've been dying to jam with people for a while now. I play violin mostly, as well as guitar (I'm also trying to learn trumpet, and possess various other instruments I don't use much). I'm classically trained on violin but want to play and learn other styles. I live in the Plateau too.

Have you found some other people yet?

Hope to hear from you soon!@

Hello. hello Ingrid. Your response is really cool. we are looking for a lead instrumentalist. Classical training is the strongest base to build upon with blues and jazz. All the rest stems from there. My name is Todd and the drummer is Mike (Meeshka). Our influences range from Jazz to punk to metal to funk to rock to country. All dancable. We like it when it grooves. ( when I think of violin in Rock I think of the band A Perfect Circle). We love to jam. We usually do it on wednesdays at 19h30 at xxxx St-Laurent Blvd. Just north of Fairmount (which is north of Laurier). I have over 80 songs written and Mee-shka has a bunch. We are open to other songs. We are open to experimenting. That is...different instruments, different effects on violin, horns, or Bass or vocal arrangements. In one of my old bands we did a Cover of Black Sabbath's war pigs with Claude Allard at lead Saxophone. The Cops came... I thought it was to shut us down. No... it was to listen. It was amazing. Therefor I am very open to new combo's. My lyric's are a bit on the political activist side. We believe in meaningfulness. There is also an esoteric and spiritual aspect to our lyrics (not religious though). If this interests you then... great! I will call you this evening after supper or you can call me anytime at 514-595-xxxx.

Watch Ingrid's tour section to see where she will be appearing next because she does get around the town.

Tour Dates:
we're playing at 9 sharp on July 9 2004 at O Patro Vys-356 Mont Royal, right beside Bily Kun for free!

The music is, I guess, rock with a bit of a dark edge-sometimes acoustic slower stuff and sometimes more of a loud rock band sound (we're still trying to tame the singer!) Anyway we've been working pretty hard so we really appreciate those who come by. Feedback on the name and music is welcomed ;) If you can't make it Friday, we're playing at other locations soon, so stay marooned!
